Shariff Durrel Oliphant

Shariff Oliphant (lovingly called Riff) was born November 2, 1998 to Darrel and Latasha Oliphant in Charlotte North Carolina. He attended school in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, graduating from Zebulon Vance High School 1 year early in 2016. Shariff Loved sports, especially hooping. He played basketball with Mecklenburg County recs dept, Keith Family YMCA and AAU. He recently joined an adult basketball ball team where he was one of the top scorers. In 2017 Shariff married Melissa Adelson and enlisted in the Army. He was then stationed in Texas where they had their beautiful daughter Kymora Oliphant in 2018. Although Shariff loved his profession in the army as a small arms artillery repair person, he decided to leave the Army and return to Charlotte North Carolina. Upon his return to NC, Shariff became a full-time entrepreneur, exploring different opportunities in real estate, clothing store and the dump truck business. His biggest dream was to secure a financially stable future for his family. Shariff was such a loving and funny young man. To know him was to love him. His all-time favorite things to do was play basketball and hang out with his family and friends, especially his daughter Kymora (Kymmy). She was the apple of his eye and every few months he would fly to Texas, to bring Kymmy to Charlotte to stay with him for a few months at a time. Shariff enjoyed traveling and visiting different places. He anticipated receiving his passport, so he could see the world. To him, nothing or nowhere was out of reach for him. Shariff departed this world on Friday April 29th 2022. He was a wonderful young man and will truly be missed by his loved ones. Shariff preceded in death his father Darrel Oliphant, paternal grandmother Susie Oliphant, maternal grandmother Minister Hattie Hunt, great grandmother Pastor Rosa Lee Smith, Aunt Diane Anthony, Aunt Robin Oliphant Aunt Gladys Oliphant and Stepfather Timothy Rice. He leaves to cherish his Mother Latasha Rice, daughter Kymora Oliphant, 3 brothers Tommie Pettie, Rasheem Hunt and Calvin Cunningham. Two sisters Jamella Blair, and Elgerene Curry. 2 nieces Ava Hunt, Alexandria Blair, Brother-in-law Steven Blair. Kymmy’s mom Melissa Adelson, Mother-in-law Samantha Rouse. 6 aunts Pastor Vicki Boomer, Patricia Hunt, Clarice Hunt-Skipper, Monica Bailey, Tracy Cameron, Rosa Williams and his special Love Salencia Thomas and her son Messiah Thomas. A host of friends, bro’s, cousins and other relatives.
