Rudolph Cephus Acolatse

Rudolph “Rudy” Cephus Acolatse, 48, the son of the late Joachim Acolatse and Josephine Yancy, was born November 29, 1975 in Liberia, West Africa. On February 4, 2024, Rudy unexpectedly gained his wings and went home to be with the Lord. In 1990, Rudy migrated to the United States to Providence, RI where he went to Central High School. He resided there for six years until he moved to Winston-Salem, NC to spend time with his mother. It was at that time that Rudy met the true love of his life, Melissa Bethea. They moved to Charlotte, NC to start a family, uniting in marriage in October 2007. From their union, two beautiful children were conceived. Those that knew Rudy knew that he was always full of jokes. He always had something smart or funny to say with no mal intent- always just jokes. He had a heart of gold, always willing to help anyone that he encountered, no matter the circumstance. If he didn’t have it, when asked, he would be sure to get it for you. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, dedicated to making and keeping his family well provided for. In turn, his family loved him for the person he was. His children were his life; he loved his little princess “Gabby” and was the perfect confidant for his loving son, “Big Rae”. Because of his love for the community and for the love the people had for him, in 2010 Rudy opened Tropix Nightclub so everyone could come together and have a good time in a safe environment. Prior to that, he loved to entertain people at his home, which only made sense to open a place to entertain. He also was the owner of several car lots in which he offered affordable cars for sale, with the intent of helping the community. Everyone will miss Rudy’s giving and selflessness. Rudy is survived by his devoted wife, Melissa Acolatse; his loving children- Raekwon Acolatse and Gabrielle Acolatse; his siblings- Sarah Cook-Duncan- Providence, RI; Christiana Coker (Edward)- Silver Springs, MD; Winna Williams- Oakland, CA; Ivan Sims- Liberia; Angeline Gana (Benjamin)- Woodbridge, VA; Florence Macauley- Atlanta, GA; Joachim Acolatse (Tanae)- Atlanta, GA; Barbara Coleman (Douglas)- New Market, MD; Adel Wreh- Australia; Lindsay Acolatse- Liberia; James Acolatse (Carma)- Durham, NC; Adolphus Acolatse (Henrietta)- Atlanta, GA; Louise Acolatse & Bernice Acolatse (deceased); In-laws- Catherine Bethea- Hamlet, NC; Freddie Blackmon (Teresa)- Pembroke, NC; John Bethea (Scottie)- Hamlet, NC; Shellene Short- Hamlet, NC, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends
