Patricia Outing Miller

Ms. Patricia Outing Miller affectionately called “Tricia” or “Pat” was the daughter of the late Frank Nance and Lillian W. Phifer. She was born on November 20, 1952 in Charlotte, North Carolina and departed from this earthly life to be with our heavenly Father on June 23, 2013. Patricia received her education in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and attended West Charlotte High School and in her last year she graduated from Olympic High School in 1971. However, until the end she claimed “Lion Pride”. She also received her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Shaw University in 2000. Patricia worked for Verbatim Corporation for 15 years and then became employed with the Charlotte Mecklenburg School Systems. She began her teaching career in 1993 and retired from CMS on November 30, 2012. She was very passionate about her students and wanted them to learn and understand the importance of education. Patricia accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She joined Mount Carmel Baptist Church while she was in elementary school. She was an active member of the Usher Board and the Missionary Group 3 for over 30 years. She served as secretary for the Missionary Group 3 since the group started. Patricia taught Pre-K Sunday School faithfully for 34 years and was a Cub Scout leader for many years. Patricia was also a faithful member to the Friendly Fourteen Savings Club where she served as the secretary for many years. Patricia was known for her beautiful smile and quiet spirit. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her three grandchildren. She loved socializing and learning “line dances”. Pat was best at providing entertainment such as games and ice breakers at any special event. She also enjoyed eating at new restaurants and really loved seafood. Besides her parents Patricia was preceded in death by her son Ranard Outing, grandmother Margaret Gill, and step-father Roy Phifer. Patricia leaves to cherish her wonderful memories to her beloved daughter Alethea O. Ramey and her husband Willie T. Ramey IV,; three grandchildren, Tiana A. Ramey, Amiya S. Ramey, and Willie T. Ramey V, all of Charlotte; five sisters, Cynthia Crowe, Eleanor Caldwell, Rosa Alexander (Michael), Mamiyah Phifer, and Latoya Phifer, all of Charlotte, NC; three brothers, Franklin Dawkins, Maurice Phifer (Cassandra), and Samson Phifer, all of Charlotte, NC; seven sister-in-laws, three brother-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
