Maceo Cobb Meade Jr.

On the 18th day of July, in Bristol, Virginia, the year 1947, God gave a gift of love to the late Maceo Cobb Meade Sr. and Dorothy Hazzard Meade in the life of Maceo Cobb Meade Jr., the first of their four children. “Macy”, as he was commonly known, attended Wurzburg High School in Germany, Morristown Jr. College in Tennessee and became a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University with a BS in Political Science in 1968. After graduation, he moved to New York City and worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 20 years as a Research Analyst. After retirement, Macy relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina, the home of his Alma Mata & his daughter. Macy enjoyed all things sports and was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees, New York Knicks and The New York Football Giants (a love he passed down to his daughter). Maceo considered himself an “undercover detective” bragging that he invested many, many hours watching his favorite’s, The X-Files, Law and Order and The Closer episodes. Maceo also kept his wits about him by watching Jeopardy daily and completing every crossword puzzle he could find. Macy believed in helping others. He was caring, humorous, kind, generous, loving, compassionate, cool, and let’s be honest, ornery when he wanted to be. Even though he was a very private person, Macy would engage in conversation on almost any topic if you interacted with him first. Maceo was highly intelligent, his honesty was his crown. Maceo was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his precious memories and to celebrate his life, his mother, Dorothy Hazzard Meade, Charlotte-NC his wife Jacquelyn Wallace-Meade, Charlotte-NC, his only child and the spark of his life, his daughter Toi Chason Meade, Charlotte-NC, his only Grandson, Christian Connore White, one brother, Francis M. Meade (Esther Streater) Charlotte-NC, two sisters Anita A. Meade, (Robert Lee) and Vanessa H. Morrison, (Anthony Morrison), both of Charlotte-NC, sister–in–law, Linda Y. Clark, Greensboro-NC, his aunt Audrey Williams (Quinn Williams) Greensboro-NC, loving nieces, Rene Love (Ricardo), Monica Meade, Paris Lowery (Desmond), Toni Morrison, Brandie White, loving nephews Frankie Meade (Charlene) and Marcus Meade (Marcie) and many Great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
