Mable Reeder

CHARLOTTE - Service for Mable Jackson Reeder, 89, will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Simpson Gillespie United Methodist Church at 12 noon. Mable Jackson Reeder was born on May 24, 1923 in Charlotte NC. She made her transition to eternal life on Sunday February 24, 2013 after a brief illness..Mable was married to the late William T. Reeder affectionately called Pete…. Preceding her in death were her husband Pete, her parents, her sisters, Elizabeth and Nan and her brother Bill. During her lifetime she was employed in the healthcare field at the Sharon Towers Retirement Center. Mable accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the Simpson Gillespie United Methodist Church. Mable served as Membership Nurture and Care Coordinator She was President of the Usher Board, a member of the United Methodist Women, Sunday School and the Culinary ministry. Thru Mable’s witness it was understood that she received personal fulfillment from membership at Simpson Gillespie. Mable loved her church and her church family. Mable was a giver…..if some one had a need, Mable was there with no thought of the effort needed .She was filled with compassion, kindness, wisdom and a very generous spirit of love for all she met. She loved her family and was a good neighbor and friend. She was a member and past President of Alpha Alpha Chapter, Alpha Pi Chi Sorority, She was the Charlotte Council of Alpha Pi Chi Woman of the Year in 2000. A member of the Black Women’s Caucus, member of the Golden Years Club, A Charter member of Sgt William E. Robinson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7775 Ladies Auxiliary, Member of The Rainbow Savings Club, The Clanton Park Homeowners Association, and The Stratford Richardson YMCA Senior Adult Program, where she was affectionately called “grandma “Her favorite past time was working word search puzzles, cooking and sharing her cakes with her friends, making jewelry, crafts and traveling. She is survived by Daughter - Jackie Weldon ( Frank ) Charlotte N.C. Son – Marion Rice Washington DC. Step-Daughter – Tonya Graves. Grandchildren – Regina Weldon, Dana Weldon, Antwone Rice, Tangie Rice and Justin Graves. Great grand children, Nieces, Nephews and a host of relatives and friends Special friends – Dorothy Jefferies, Bobbie Boulware and Amy Lanier.
