Jeanetta Threatt Maxwell

Mrs. Jeanetta Threatt Maxwell was born August 6, 1941, in Pageland, South Carolina to the late John Wesley Threatt and the late Sweeter Robinson Threatt. She peacefully exchanged time for eternal life during the evening of Saturday, May 25, 2013. Mrs. Maxwell began her Christian journey as a child at Flint Ridge Baptist Church in Pageland, South Carolina. She continued there even after the family moved to Monroe, North Carolina, where she grew up. She graduated from Winchester High School in Monroe, NC. Soon after, she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she met and married the love of her life, Carey F. Maxwell on April 12, 1964 and to this union was blessed with two daughters, Phenicia and Odetta. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Jeanetta will always be remembered for her unconditional love and devotion to her husband, daughters, grandchildren, family, and friends. After marriage, she joined her husband at Wilson Heights First Church of God, where she served faithfully on the choir and as an usher, and worked diligently in the church daycare. In the earlier 90’s, she joined Reeder Memorial Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a member and as the First Sunday Floor Captain of the Ushers Ministry. One of her life’s joys and passions was working with children. For more than forty years, she worked in childcare. Though she loved them all dearly, there were two special boys, Ahmad Yarbor and Brandon Brice, who she brought into her home and cared for them as her own. She had maintained a motherly relationship with them up until her transition. Most recently, she worked at Presbyterian Child Development Center, where she served faithfully until her retirement in 2011. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving and devoted husband, Rev. Carey Maxwell, of 49 years; Phenicia and John ‘Special Son-in-law’ Geter, III, and Odetta Maxwell; two grandchildren, John R. Geter, IV, ‘Quad’ and Keri J. Geter, all of Charlotte; one sister, Rosetta Threatt Moss (Jesse); two sisters-in-law, Lillie Threatt, of Monroe, NC, and Christine Threatt, of Wingate, NC; two brothers-in-law, Evangelist Walter Maxwell (Becky) of Uniondale, NY and Chauncey Maxwell (Mary) of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other close relatives, and wonderful friends.
