Janice Elaine Cousar Dicks

Janice Elaine Cousar-Dicks began her earthly journey on December 3, 1948, in Dunn, North Carolina. She was born to the late Eunice Solomon and Beatrice Cousar, who instilled in her the values of faith, perseverance, and compassion that would define her life. In 1966 Janice graduated from Harnett High School in Dunn, North Carolina, and later that same year relocated to Stamford Connecticut, where the next chapter of her life began. In 1967, Janice met the love of her life, Bennie Lee Dicks. From their beautiful union came three sons: Daulton, Billy and Jeffrey. Janice was a devoted wife and mother whose strength, warmth, and nurturing spirit anchored her family. Janice dedicated her professional life to caring for others. In 1970, she started working at the Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, New York. Driven by her passion for excellence and service, she furthered her education in 1988 at Nassau Community College, earning her credentials as a Registered Nurse. Her commitment and leadership led her to serve as Supervisor of the Burn Unit, where she faithfully worked until her retirement in 2002. Her career was marked by compassion skills, and unwavering dedication to her patients and colleagues. After retiring, Janice moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, with her sons, where she continued to pour into her family and community. A faithful steward for the Kingdom, she became Hospitality Ministry, Chairperson at Immanuel Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in 2010, under the leadership of Reverend Vernell Lyles. She served diligently and joyfully, exemplifying grace and servant leadership until health challenges limited her activity. Her presence in the church was a blessing to all who encountered her warm smile and welcoming spirit. Janice found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved traveling, challenging herself with crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, dancing and singing. Her laughter was contagious, her advice was wise and her love was unwavering. With profound sorrow and heartfelt gratitude for a well lived life, Janice entered eternal rest on February 6, 2026, at Novant Health in Charlotte, North Carolina. Though she has departed from this earthy life, her legacy of faith, service, strength and unconditional love will continue to live on in hearts of all who knew her. She fought the good fight, she finished her course, and she kept the faith. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband-Bennie Lee Dicks; and her cherished sons-Billy and Jeffrey. She leaves to cherish he precious memory: her devoted son - Daulton; her beloved grandsons: Jeffrey “Jay” and Benjamin; her treasured great-grandson-Jeffrey Jr, all of Charlotte, North Carolina, her cousin-Eva Kirby of Stamford, Connecticut; along with her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
