Faye Ramsey

Faye Delores Sherrill Ramsey traded her Earthly body for her Heavenly crown on March 19, 2015. She was born July 10, 1932 in Huntersville, NC to the late Gus Junior Sherrill and Verdie Bell Turner Sherrill. Faye was preceded in death by the following siblings: Lovette Sherrill, Hanover Sherrill, Isaac Henry, Cecil Sherrill, Moscoe Nathaniel Sherrill, Margarette Sherrill Whitfield, and Roland Franklin Sherrill. Faye graduated from Torrence – Lytle High School in Huntersville, NC in 1952. Faye Delores Sherrill married Barnie Junior Ramsey on July 11, 1954. They started their life together in Huntersville, North Carolina. From this union were two daughters, Waverlyn Korean Ramsey and Erica Alesa Ramsey. Faye graduated from Barber Scotia College in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After college, Faye began her career in teaching. She was employed at Dobb Farm Reformatory for Girls in Kinston North Carolina and Boggs Academy in Waynesboro, Georgia. As a dedicated member of Columbus Chapel AME Zion Church in Davidson, NC, she served on the Ushers Board and assisted with other duties in the church. Faye taught self suffiency classes for the blind through the Red Cross organization. Over the years, Faye worked various jobs but she always went back to teaching. She taught adult sewing classes at Huntersville Elementary School, The War Memorial in Mooresville, NC and Mitchel College in Mooresville, NC. Faye retired from Belk department store in Concord, NC 1995. Faye enjoyed sewing, cooking, painting, arts and craft, sewing was her ultimate passion. She loved spending time sitting behind her sewing machine. Faye was a caring mother and grandmother. She leaves to cherish the memory of her life to her husband Barnie Ramsey and her two daughters; Waverlyn Korean Ramsey-Reid (Vernon) of Huntersville, NC and Erica Alesa Ramsey-Gassaway (Middleton) of Charlotte, NC. five grandsons; Vernon T. Reid, Michael S. Reid, Bryan A. Reid, Adrian J. Reid, and Kyle L. Gassaway. seven great grandchildren. brother Everette L. Sherrill of Huntersville, NC and sister Monavivan Rhyan of Charlotte, NC and many other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
