Evelyn Springs

CHARLOTTE - Ms. Evelyn Ann Springs of Charlotte answered the call to return to her Heavenly Father after seeing that shining light on Sunday Morning September 9, 2012. Surrounded by her loving family, it was her desire to greet her Heavenly Father on the Sabbath. Born to devout parents, Mr. Zacharias Alexander Springs and Mrs. Lucille Erwin Springs on March 18, 1947, she was taught to love her Heavenly Father and her siblings. She was baptized Evelyn but given the additional name Ann because her five older siblings couldn't say Evelyn. So Pop said, "We will call her Baby Ann." What a perfect fit for this beautiful baby. After her siblings matured, "baby" to some degree was dropped while others jazzed it up calling her "Babe Ann." In Ann, we saw a deep love of family, friends and those she asscociated. She always exhibited a sincere compassion for and dedication to those less fortunate. In Ann, we saw love for church, Memorial Presbyterian, where she served as an usher and faithful member. Most importantly, she lived her love for Christ. In Ann, we saw one who accepted life's challenges and would "ace" every challenge she was comfronted with through her triumphant faith. God saw in Ann a messanger of His love and an emissary for the power of faith. As a team player, in it for the short or long haul, she served as caregiver for her parents, her sister Edna and her brother, Thomas. All of whom preceded her in death. When the Post Office asked for food items and left their bags, she filled theirs and hers. She gave generously to Charitable Organizations and was always willing to give a "helping hand". Ann was fabulous and fashionable, a perfectionist like her mother. Her smile and laughter were contagious like her father and she was Wise as an "Owl". Her Owl Collection was impressive having grown through gifts from friends and family. Most recently, the latest addition was a beautiful stuffed owl with moon size eyes like hers whom she named Missy who stay at her bedside. Ann enjoyed traveling with her daughter to New York and other points of interest. Gardening was one of her favorite pastimes. She enjoyed cooking and being with family and friends. At family gatherings, we could always expect her signature lemonade. Evelyn was educated in the Public schools of Mecklenburg County and graduated from York Road High School in 1965. She worked at Eckerd's Drug now Rite Aid for over 30 years. She was so proud to have recieved at her 25th year a pin for excellence and dedicated service. She is survived by a loving and supported daughter, Larilyn Reid of Charlotte, NC; a thirteen month old precious and very smart granddaughter, Baby Larianna who would one day call her Nana Anna; a loyal companion, Mr. James Robinson of Charlotte, NC; her loving brothers, Zacharias Springs, Jr. (Elna), Erwin Springs (Geraldine) of Charlotte, NC; and Jerry Springs (Brenda) of Detroit, Michigan; her loving sisters, Nancy Springs Morris (Lloyd) of Charlotte, NC; and Debbie Springs Woodson (Mark) of Greenville, NC; her sister in law, Janet Lyles Springs, of Harrisburg, NC; brother in law, Ronald Laney, of Durham, NC. Many nieces, and nephews, Aunt, Corine Floyd, of Atlanta, GA and Aunt, Mildred Ingram, of Charlotte, NC; Uncle, Bennie Springs, of Charlotte, NC and many cousins and friends.
