Debora Campbell McCain

Debora Campbell McCain was born on March 22, 1966, to the late Manuel Campbell Sr. and L. Gladys Campbell Mackey in Charlotte, NC. On March 30, 2024, at 10:18 in the evening, Debora embarked on her journey to the heavenly abode surrounded by her loving family. She has found eternal rest and is joyfully reunited with her beloved family members who preceded her in death. Affectionately known by her family and friends as “NaNa,” she had a remarkable ability to make anyone she encountered feel welcome. She never met a stranger and always saw the good in people. She was a light that shined bright in the lives of so many. Her zest for life and having a good time will surely be missed. Debora, a lifelong Charlotte, North Carolina resident grew up in a close-knit family. She was a 1984 graduate of West Charlotte High School. During her high school for years, she was a proud member of the cheerleading team. Debora later attended Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) and studied Substance Abuse Counseling. While a student at CPCC she was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She obtained her Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in the mid- 1990s and had many years of experience working in the transportation industry. Throughout her transportation career she drove for the United States Postal Service, McCloud Cement Company, and Charlotte Area Transportation System (CATS). Debora was a loving, free-spirited person. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, spend time with family, and enjoy life. She especially looked forward to creating life-long memories on holidays and celebrating her loved ones' birthdays. At an early age, Debora accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She became a member of The Park Church in the early 2000s devoting her time and energy to the outreach ministry and community initiatives. She found strength and solace in her faith. We will miss Debora every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. The Campbell family extends their deep gratitude to Debora’s caregivers, the compassionate staff of Charlotte Health and Rehabilitation, and Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care Cabarrus for their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion. Preceded in death by her father Manuel Campbell Sr., Debra is survived by her mother L. Gladys Campbell Mackey; son, Tavaruss Campbell (Kendrick); daughter, Donte Bailey (Kendell); four grandchildren, Hassanah Bailey, Kne’Asya Bailey, Kendell Bailey Jr., Josiah Davis; one great-granddaughter, Kenlei Gibson; two brothers, Darryl Boler (Catherine) and Manuel Campbell Jr.; one sister, Philsonia Burris (Richard); step-mother, Gloria Campbell; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
