Daisy Lee Ship

Asweet rose fell from heaven to earth, her fragrance filled the chambers of so many hearts. Daisy Shipp was born ni Charlotte, NC ot Annie Le and Elijah Kemp Davis. She was the oldest of three children. She was preceded in death by her sister Lizzie Mae Davis and her parents. She departed this life on May 10th, 2023. This beautiful rose flourished and matured as she bloomed through the corridors of Torrence Lytle High School (Class of 1961). She furthered her education by attending Central Piedmont Community College, where she procured her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree. This beautiful woman shared her nurturing and caring heart as aRegistered Nurse for 25 years at Charlotte Memorial Hospital (currently known as Carolina Medical Center). She went on to work for many years with the American Red Cross until retirement. After retirement, she became a business owner and opened Nail E Perfect Salon where she beautified the hands and nails of both local and international celebrities. Other entrepreneurial opportunities were Hair Locking, Headwraps, African Couture, Jewelry sales, Essential oil fragrances, Shea Butter and many other health and beauty aids. Miss Daisy received several local notable accolades and was recognized for her contributions to the community through the local newspapers. This precious soul was the quintessential woman who was an extraordinarily loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother, and loyal friend to many. The fragrance of her wisdom and social wit impacted the lives of everyone's path she crossed. She leaves a legacy filled with grace and love to her family and friends. She gave us so much love and wisdom to pass on to our children and to share with others. We will all remember the good times, good food, the look she gave us when we were doing things that we should not be doing. Even amid strong discipline, she alwaysprovided a haven for those who had no place to goand needed to rest. This rose has now faded and returned to her heavenly garden, but her fragrancewill linger to feel our hearts in the years to come. She leaves to cherish her memories, herhusband, Isaac .L Shipp; three sons, Roy Funderburk, Jr. (Roy III, Jessica, Daisy, Brandy), Chancellor T. Funderburk, and Terrence E. Funderburk (Marquis and Shavon); eight great grandchildren; one sister, Patricia D. Barrino (Theron D.), two nephews, Kevin Davis (Glennis), and Duan Barrino (Nicole).
