Cynthia Diane Redd

Cynthia Diane Redd or “Candi” as she was called by those that knew her best was born on July 13, 1953 in Charlotte North Carolina to the late William Gill and Elizabeth Murray. Candi was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and best friend that you could have. Candi’s life didn't end on April 3rd 2023 7:43 am but she began her transition to be welcomed by the loved ones that passed before her. Candi’s life will continue on in the hearts and minds of those who loved her most. She was a proud mother of her two boys Antoine and Sam for the men and providers to their families they have become. She took great pride and the fact that her granddaughter Trinity completed 4 years of college and became a nurse with a BSN/RN. She was equally as proud of her grandson AJ who is 3 semesters away from commissioning as an Officer into the United States Marine Corps from Vanderbilt University. She would always beam with joy because she knew that her grandbabies got their love of the military from her. She was also extremely proud of Samiya, she bragged about how smart her grandbaby was and what she could do in this world when she got older. She bragged about her talks with Envi about school and her becoming a doctor one day. Candi was the oldest sister to Billy, Amorosa, Dexter and Andre Murray. Candi joined the Army in January 18, 1978 when she began her career in aircraft maintenance; she loved working on her Huey’s. One of her fonder memories is when she was in basic training and her 1st cousin Victor Steel was her training Sargent, he somehow managed to pick on her one to many times on the grenade range and she lobed a live grenade at him. He came though unscathed but that was the last time he picked on his cousin. She was first station in South Korea, twice in Germany, Texas, Africa and in the Middle East during the Persian Gulf War and her beloved Fort Campbell KY. She went to college while at Fort Campbell and received her Bachelor of Science from Austin Peay State University once she retired from the military. Candi love to fish, she also loved rodeos and some good country music she was a very devoted Christian and grandmother. Anyone who met Candi loved her. Everywhere she went she lit up the room and you could tell the Lord was present and lived in her. Through her actions it would be nothing for her to take the shoes off her feet and the coat off her back and give it to someone less fortunate. She saw the good in people and humanity and did her best to share that with everyone she encountered. When it came to her son’s she not only gave them gifts of love, knowledge and compassion for their fellow man and insight and the willingness to hold themselves accountable for what they do in the world. Candi, we lost an angel, but heaven gained one that early morning in April, you will be greatly missed. Candi was preceded in death by her parents: William Gill & Elizabeth Murray, two brothers, William (Billy) Murray, Dexter Murray, two aunts, Eliza Steel, Griffie Blakeley, two uncles, James Steel, Milton Murray. Candi leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Antoine Murray (Latasha), Sam Moon , two brothers, Amorosa Murray, Andre Murray (Thomasena), four grandchildren, Trinity Murray, AJ Murray, Samiya Johnson. Envi Johnson, Special friends, Jennifer Wagner, Lynette Houston and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
