Alesia Nadine Smith

Early on Thursday, March 6, 2025, our Heavenly Father called home one of his beloved daughters, Alesia Nadine (Beb) Smith. Alesia was born to the late Charles Smith and Barbara Jennings Smith on May 30, 1963. Growing up in Southside Homes in Charlotte, NC, Alesia's life was shaped by the strength her mother instilled in her, blossoming into an extraordinary woman. During this time, she formed lasting friendships, creating treasured memories. Alesia attended Charlotte Mecklenburg schools, graduating from Myers Park High School and continuing her studies at Central Piedmont Community College. She was an accomplished athlete, excelling in basketball, softball, cheerleading, and the Black Women of Tomorrow Dance Group and Company at The Bethlehem Center. After retiring from her career at Creative Coating and Graphic Specialties, she became an entrepreneur, dedicating herself to guiding, supporting, and encouraging youth. Alesia was an exceptional and loving mother, vibrant and devoted to her four sons, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and kindness. Her love for them was undeniable, and she was a beloved figure in her family. Her sons' affection for her was unbreakable. She cared for many, all while providing for her children, whom she raised with diligence. She was immensely proud of her sons, shaping them into remarkable men. Many cherished memories were created, which her grandchildren will fondly recall. They were her focus, and she spoke of them often. Alesia possessed an infectious smile, radiating the love she held for everyone. Her heartfelt farewells, "I love you; you are beautiful, love you more," will forever echo in our hearts. Her gentle nature and kind spirit touched all who knew her, and her love was a beacon of happiness. Becoming a grandmother was deeply fulfilling for Alesia, filling her heart with joy. She considered the transition from parent to grandparent magical and spoke of her five grandchildren daily. Each grandchild was unique, and she shared a special bond with them all. She was especially delighted to meet and hold her newborn twin granddaughters. Floyd, her devoted husband, was a pillar of strength and unwavering support. Known for his gentle spirit, he always prioritized his family. Floyd and Alesia were inseparable; where you saw her, you saw him. They relied on each other for emotional and practical support, building a strong bond through shared experiences and mutual understanding. Alesia was a source of love and wisdom to her extended family. She had a passion for cooking, delighting family and friends with delicious, perfectly balanced dishes. She loved to entertain, always offering to cook, and was renowned for her freshly cut fries, corn, casseroles, and soul food. Alesia shared a strong bond with her siblings, offering a safe space for personal thoughts and feelings without judgment. They provided emotional support during difficult times and celebrated each other's successes. Alesia accepted Christ early in life and was a member of Boyd Hill Baptist Church. She was always available for her family, offering assistance whenever needed. They loved and respected her for the constant sweetness she displayed. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Hazie Floyd; her children, Jamison Smith, Jarmacus Smith, Vernon Crawford, and Vermar Smith, all of Charlotte, NC; her sisters, Kimberly Longshore of Atlanta, GA, and Tasha Brown of Charlotte, NC; her brother, Brian Smith of Atlanta, GA; and her grandchildren, Isaiah Crawford, Omri Smith, Miciah Crawford, Athena Smith, and Aurora Smith.
