“To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heavens” Ecclesiastes 3:1 A Time to Be Born Mr. Troy Lee Bost was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on November 12, 1942, to the late Willie Haywood Bost, Sr. and Gertrude Caroline Carr Bost. A Time to Live He attended the public schools of Mecklenburg County, graduating from Torrence Lytle High School. He joined Mount Olive Baptist Church at a young age where he served as Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, and devout member until his health failed. . Troy was employed by Martin Marietta Aggregates for 47 years until he retired. After retirement he spent more time enjoying one of his favorite hobbies – fishing. He was united in marriage to Kay Frances Houston, his high school sweetheart and lifelong love. They were married over 56 years. A Time to Die Mr. Troy Bost departed his life on the evening of Sunday, March 22, 2020, at his home surrounded by family in Matthews, NC. Psalms 90:10 “the days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, any we fly away”. In addition to his parents, Troy was preceded in death by is daughter Lisa Dawn Bost. A Time to Mourn Troy was a devoted husband and family man who leaves his wife, Minister Kay Houston Bost to cherish his memories. Five children are also left to mourn his passing: LaDon Bost (Ilene) of Charlotte, NC, Chris Bost (Trenesa) of Waxhaw, NC, Noel Bost (Vicki) of Greensboro, NC, Tia Bost Harris (Rashaan) of Mint Hill, NC, and Tony Smith (Candace) of Charlotte, NC. Also survived is one brother, Willie Haywood Bost, Jr. of Huntersville, NC, and one sister, Joyce Bost Jones (Eric) of Huntersville, NC; special devoted nephew, Shawn Bost of Huntersville, NC; three brother-in-laws, two sister-in-laws, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Time to Remember Troy will be missed by family, friends and acquaintances. His passing saddens the hearts of numerous others who loved and respected his generous spirit. He bridged the gap between the old and the young, sharing enjoyable fishing experiences and making lasting friendships. To know Troy was to know he was a fan of classic cars, fast cars, and loved animals, especially his bird “Pete”. As a proud alumnus, he enjoyed attending Torrence Lytle reunions and social events. Troy had a giving spirit and believed in donating to numerous charitable organizations, including World Vision, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Indian Schools and others. He was also an avid visitor of the sick and devoted time each day to studying his bible and praying. Thank you God… You gave us “Troy Lee”, “Bost”, “Short Man”, “Dad”, “PawPaw” and “Uncle Troy” for 77 years.
