Thomas Porter Jr. was born in Charlotte, NC on Sept 4, 1946 to the late Thomas Buster Porter and Ethel James Porter. He departed this life on Saturday, March 27th 2021 at his residence. He was educated in the Charlotte, Mecklenburg School System and following graduation served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1968. He was employed by various trucking companies before starting the successful Porter Brothers trucking. Thomas accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Greater Temple Baptist Church. Thomas had a great love for family and friends and always had a joyful smile and infectious laugh. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, his son (Warren Belk), 2 sisters, and 1 brother. Apart from a huge network of friends and a host of grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; Thomas leaves to cherish his memory; his beautiful wife, Mattie Floyd Porter, 5 surviving sons; Reginald Farrar (Carlene), Thomas Sean Porter, Sean Maurice Porter, Thomas Lamont Porter, Kanarda Porter 1 surviving daughter; Tamela Hood; 4 brother’s Willie Porter (Mary), Marvin Porter (Betty), Johnny Porter (Shawanda), Robert Henry Porter; 1 sister Ethel Whitt (Lester). He was a snappy dresser and had a keen eye for fashion. He loved family gatherings, was proud of his family, and was affectionally known as Tomma Jr. Pop, Uncle Tomma Jr. Grandaddy, and Papa Rabbit. Music and singing were a passion of his as well. Thomas is loved, will be greatly missed, and the memories of him will never ever, ever be forgotten.
