Gloria Bell Green, affectionately known as “Ma Glo”, was born February 1, 1957 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Issac Bell and Helen Anderson Smith. She departed this world on January 20, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by loved ones. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and sang on the AMBC Mass Choir, member of Missionary #5 and chair of the Home Coming committee. Growing up in Charlotte, NC, Gloria graduated in 1975 from East Mecklenburg High School and enrolled into Johnson C. Smith University for one year. She was employed by Belk Store Services, Equitable and Family Dollar Corporation. In 2014 she discovered her true calling serving as the Director of the Grier Heights Community Center. While serving her community, she launched a campaign for the Grier Heights 50th Labor Day Celebration drawing in a record crowd. She was also an activist for Village Heartbeats, an organization pushing for better health in community. In her leisure time, Gloria enjoyed shopping, traveling, spending time with family and friends and looking for ways to improve her community. Gloria was such a fun and loving person that enjoyed living life to the fullest. She never met a stranger. She was so full of joy and love that whenever she entered a room, it lit up! Gloria was preceded in death by brothers Bobby Bell and Earl Weddington. Gloria is survived by her son, Clifton Bell (JeVonne) of Los Angeles, CA; Grandchildren; Anjay, Ashton, AnaJoleen and Askyler of Los Angeles, CA; Brothers, Raymond Weddington (Maeroy) of Charlotte, NC, Samuel Weddington (Jackie) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Wilbur Bell (Rita) of Fayetteville, NC; Sisters Constance Lawton, Barbara Ann Simpson (William), Shelia Ann Nick (Ernest) all of Charlotte, NC; Goddaughter; Tonya Little-Reid and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
