Geralyn Allen Love

Geralyn Elizabeth Wallace Allen-Love was born on June 25, 1945 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She made her transition to eternal life on Sunday, August 11, 2013. “Gic” as she was known by her family and close friends, was the oldest of 8 children. She was happily married to Joe T. Love for 13 years. He affectionately called her “Sweetie”. She attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools and graduated from Second Ward High School. During her lifetime, she was employed at Carolinas Healthcare systems formerly known as Charlotte Memorial Hospital, where she enjoyed working and meeting the needs of others. After 32 years of service in the environmental services department, she retired. Her next role was that of caregiver and guardian to her brother, James Wallace, whom she affectionately called “Ham-Bone”. Geralyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She joined Union Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend L.D. Jeffries. She was a faithful member. She attended Sunday school and Bible Study. She sang on the Senior Choir and served on the Usher Board. She later joined Victory Christian Center, attending services regularly. Geralyn was a provider, of someone had a need; Geralyn was there to assist with no thought of the details. She was filled with compassion, kindness, wisdom and a very generous spirit of love for all she met. She enjoyed receiving cards and loved the smell of flowers, both of which she received on a regular basis for the last 13 years of her life. She never met a stranger, loved her family and was a good neighbor, friend and confidant. She was a prayer warrior, loved to hug (praying over you) while she shared her love for Christ in that moment. She enjoyed reading her Bible, singing, dancing and was a member of Saturday Night Jokers Bowling League. Preceding her in death were her parents Sarah Wallace and Albert Dunlap; her brother June Wallace; step son Johnny Lee Williams and step daughter Janice Allen. She is survived by her children, son Juan L. Allen (Rhonda); daughters Neoya L. Allen and Vetta M. Allen, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; sisters Pamela Floyd, Myra Martin and Kimberly Hoyle all of Charlotte, North Carolina; brothers James Wallace, Douglas Sowell and Brice Sowell all of Charlotte, North Carolina; step children Shirley Allen, Robin Allen and Barbara Allen all of Charlotte, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
