Ethel Jackson Randolph
August 27, 1927 - November 16, 2021
Ethel J. Randolph, daughter of the late Eva Huff and the late Frell Clifton and was adopted by the late Clemmie J. Rosemond, entered into the world on August 27, 1927 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She departed this life on November 16, 2021. Ethel graduated from West Charlotte High School. Ethel was a standout basketball player for the West Charlotte Lions and was nicknamed “Cool Mama” by her fellow classmates. After graduating from high school, Ethel married Eugene Randolph. From this union, they had five children, Lucretia, Gregory, Deronda, Alvenice and Leta. Ethel was employed with Stately Lady Nitewear until her retirement. After retirement, Ethel spent her days assisting the younger generations of her family (who affectionately called her “blamma”), working with her church, and gardening. She loved sports (particularly basketball and was a big fan of Allen Iverson), and an occasional outing to play Bingo. Ethel was preceded in death by her father, Frell Clifton, and mother, adopted mom, Clemmie Rosemond, daughter, Lucretia Powell, and grandson Christopher Powell. She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved children: Charles Powell (Son In Law), Gregory Randolph, Deronda Harris (Ronald), Alvenice Simmons (Antonio), Leta Lawrence all of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Antonio Randolph, Tanya Randolph, Tawanna Randolph, Charles Powell, Jr., Courtney Powell, Gregory A. Randolph, Quentin Randolph, Reggie Randolph, LaShon Rogers, LaQuon Huntley, Darrlick Frazier, Sharonia Ellerby, Antonio Simmons, Jr., Delmartus Young, Robert Randolph, Steven Lawrence, Sha’Leta Brooks; 21 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; and a host of many cousins, family and friends. Ethel was a soft spoken, and quiet person who had an old school wisdom that resonated in a very positive way to those around her. She was the true matriarch of her family and will be greatly missed.
