William Jones

On January 12, 2024, William “Good Looking, Sweet, Handsome, Adorable” Jones, age 75, departed from earth to his heavenly home. William, better known as Bill, was born November 25, 1948 to Ernest Jones, Sr and Nellie Martin Jones in Charlotte, NC. In his early years, he attended Fairview Elementary and graduated from West Charlotte High School. After high school, William was drafted into the United States Army, where he fought in the Vietnam War. When William returned from Vietnam, he worked various jobs. He worked as a security officer, and even had his own janitorial business. However, he was mostly known for working at A&P Grocery Store as the store manager. William enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was often known as Cowboy, Wild Bill, Uncle Bill to his nieces and nephews, and Mr. Jones to his neighbors. He had a love for poetry, music, bowling, theater, and going out to eat. However, the most precious moments of his life was when he started a family with the love of his life, Gwendolyn Maxwell Jones. William loved being a husband and a father to his girls. His love for his neighbors and church family made him a true man of the community. William was currently a member of the Church of Christ, where he would speak from time to time about the goodness of God. William was a strong Christian man who believed that prayers change things. William is now smiling ear to ear as he is reunited in heaven with his wife Gwendolyn Maxwell Jones, his mother and father, his nephew Lamont Jones, as well as a host of family and friends. His presence will always be remembered in the hearts of those he inspired during his life. He leaves to mourn his daughters: Shioban A. Jones, and DeShunda S. Jones (Lee). Brothers and Sister: Ernest Jones Jr (Mary), Sylvia Jones, Lonnie Jones (Ann), Richard Jones (Stana), and Michael Jones; In-Laws: Aaron M. Orr (Lorraine), Delmar Maxwell, Alfreto Alexander, Larry Maxwell, Marian Maxwell, and Gwen Blackmon. Nieces and Nephews: Michelle Dunham, Jamar Caldwell, Michael Jones, Aaron Orr Jr (Jenee), April Jones (Tim), Danielle Alexander, Andrea Perez(Francisco), Kristen Johnson (Gerald), Garrett Maxwell(Tierra). Great Nieces and Nephews: Cameron Berry; Tre and Jada Orr; Ayanna Wright and Kiara Jones; Victoria and Xavier Perez; Khalid, Skye and Laila Johnson; Egypt Wright-Maxwell, Kyan Tucker, Kayden Tucker-Maxwell, and Kaylani Tucker-Maxwell; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
