Willard "Bay" Ragin

Willard Lee “Bay” Ragin, son of the late Mr. John and Mrs. Jessie Bolt was born March 7, 1922 in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. He departed his life on Wednesday July 30, 2014. At an early age, Willard joined Belmont Baptist Church and later joined Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, where he became a faithful and dedicated member until his illness. He was a member of the Trustee Board and the President of the Usher Board, which he served for many years. Willard was also a Mason with the Clarksville Masonic Lodge #735 of Monroe. Willard was a World War II Veteran and a member of American Legion Post 212 for 49 years. He served on the Executive Committee and was very active until he moved due to health reasons. Willard attended Belmont School and continued his studies at Marshville High School. He was then drafted into WWII in the 1940’s by the United States Army. After the service he worked as a Truck driver for Union Coach Company in Monroe and took Mail order classes for Technology for TV Repair. In 1962 he started working for Monroe Hardware as a truck Driver where he worked until his retirement in 1989. He really loved his job and was well known and loved by many. Willard is preceded in death by his son James Donald Ragin, Sr. (Diane) Those left to cherish his fond and loving memories: one daughter, Edith Saxton of Fort Mill, South Carolina; six grandchildren, Shawn Wade of Ontario, California, Jjuana Mosley of Monroe, North Carolina, James Donald Ragin, Jr. (Karen) of Knightdale, North Carolina, Jerrica Ragin of Charlotte, North Carolina, Whitley Saxton Stewart (Darian) of Owings Mills, MD, and Raymond Saxton, Jr. of New York City, New York; five great-grandchildren, Raven Mosley, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Broderic Mosley, Curtis Mcgee III, and Jakai White, all of Monroe, North Carolina, and Joshua and Daniel Ragin of Knightdale, North Carolina; one great great-grandson Jamarri Wallace of Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother, Robert Ragin (Linda) of Seaford, Delaware; one sister, Frances Massey (Henry) of Charlotte, North Carolina; two special nieces Wanda Faye Hubbard of Monroe, North Carolina, and Renea Covington of Indian Trail, North Carolina, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
