Sherri Rebecca Bonner

Sherri Rebecca Bonner was born to Lema Nell Smith and Mack Smith in Albion, Michigan, on June 9th, 1971. On October July 23rd, 1994, she married Harry Bonner Jr, her high school sweetheart. While they made their home in Jackson, Michigan, their desire for a new beginning led them to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2007. In 1994, the Bonners union was blessed with a daughter JaMareia followed by son Kyran in 2000. As a family they enjoyed summer vacation trips and watching movies on family night. As a devoted mother, Sherri continually encouraged her children and always had them in church. Volunteering her time came naturally, and enjoying baking cakes was another way to express her love for others. She always put family and friends before herself. Sherri was a active member of Bethel Outreach International Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Sherri was beloved by all who met and was around her. She was not only a mother to her children but also their best friend. She was uncommonly generous to others throughout her life. She shared her love in countless ways and planted hope into many lives who, even now, are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Sherri was the ultimate example of what it means to be strong. After her diagnosis and valiant fight with Breast Cancer in 2015, Sherri’s battle resumed in July 2016 with Stage 4 Breast Cancer that spread to the bones. Her faith was always bigger than her heart and she had amazing hope and humor through it all. On June 20, 2017, days after her 46th birthday, surrounded by her loving family her body’s journey ended and her spirit entered eternal life, meeting her Savior at the heavenly gate. Sherri leaves to cherish her loving husband, Harry Bonner Jr. of Charlotte, NC; Her Beautiful Children, Daughter, JaMareia Danae, and Son, Kyran Armani, both of Charlotte, NC; Mother, Lema Nell Smith of Charlotte, NC; Sisters, Angela Carter of Houston, TX and Jacqueline (Esper) Williams of Grand Rapids, MI; Brothers, Doran (Naomi) Smith of Albion, MI, Mark (Tamela) Smith of Grand Rapids, MI; Orlando Johnson of Atlanta, GA and Joshua Smith of Grand Rapids, MI. Loving in laws, Harry Sr. and Jerlene Bonner of Albion, MI. Special Sister/Cousin, Ericka (Shawn) Turner of Huntersville, NC. Special Friends, Sharrika Burnett, Nicole Green, Renee Kemp, Nikki Manigo, Paula Ware and Thadina Wingfield and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends from every walk of life. She was preceded in death by her father, Mack Smith: sisters, Kim (Smith) Garza and Yvonne Smith; Brothers, Mack Sanders Smith and Christopher Smith; paternal and maternal grandparents and niece, Junaia Carter.
