Ruth Green Hill

Mrs. Ruth Green Hill was born to the late James Green and Mamie Green. She peacefully departed this life, August 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and devotion to family. Ruth attended West Charlotte High School and later dedicated many years to her work before retiring. After retirement, she treasured spending time with her family and friends, creating lasting memories with those she loved most. Ruth was united in holy matrimony to the late Jessie James Hill, Sr. and together they shared 67 years of marriage, building a strong foundation of faith, love, and commitment. Their union was blessed with a loving family that became the center of Ruth's life. A woman of strong faith, Ruth was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she served on the Greeter Ministry, warmly welcoming members and visitors alike. Her servant's heart extended beyond the church walls through her volunteer work with Loaves & Fishes. She was also a proud and dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, demonstrating her commitment to community service and fellowship. Ruth will be remembered as a loving wife, a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, a proud great- grandmother and great-great grandmother, and truly "the world's best Auntie," always ready with a listening ear, wise advice, and unconditional love. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her three sons, Jesse J. Hill, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia; Tony (Kim) Hill of Charlotte, North Carolina; and John C. Hill of Orlando, Florida; and her two daughters, Evelyn (Robert) McCorkle and Kathey (Charles) Irby, both of Charlotte, North Carolina. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: LaShonda (Malcolm) Hart, Porscha (Kevin) Delafose, Brittany (Kendrick) Houser, Kimberly Hill, Stephanie Hill, Natalie Hill, Rodale Forbes-Hill, Nicholas Givens-Hill, and Alexander Hill. Ruth was blessed with a loving legacy of great-grandchildren: Shaquille Hart, Kaila Hart, Kyle Delafose, Makiya Wright, Brianna Wright, Nassir Augustus, Skyler Blakeney, and Isaiah Belts; and one cherished great-great-grandchild, Lauryn Faulkner. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Barbara Green and Sarah Hill; one brother-in-law, Walter Hill; and a host of devoted nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her greatly. Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Jessie James Hill, Sr.; her granddaughter; Tonya Hill; her grandson, Tyrice Sentiel; and her six brothers, Thomas Green, James Green, Levoid Green, Robert Green, William Green, and Jethro Green. Though our hearts are saddened by her passing, we rejoice in the life she lived and the lasting impact she made on all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, faith, strength, and unwavering love for family will forever remain in our hearts. While she will be deeply missed, her loving spirit, warm smile, and precious memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
