Roney Vern Alexander

Roney Vern Alexander, 72 of Charlotte, NC, was born May 7, 1951 in Mooresville, NC (Iredell County), to the late Albert and Flossie Alexander. He departed this life surrounded by family, April 13, 2024, at Veterans Affairs (VA) Liberty Lane Hospice in Salisbury, NC. Roney, who was also known as “TeeBerry”, was raised in Huntersville, NC. He graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 1969. On June 19, 1969, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country until January 21, 1972. He was a proud member of the ‘173rd’ Airbourne in Vietnam and ‘82nd’ Airbourne in Fort Bragg, NC. Being recognized as a US Army and Vietnam Veteran held great significance for him, representing not only his dedication to his duties but also his commitment and sacrifices during his time in the military. Once he returned home, he obtained his Associate’s Degree in Merchandising from Rutledge College. He was employed by Edgecombe Metals from 1972 to 1980. He then became an entrepreneur and founded RVA Cleaning Services. He serviced many companies in the Charlotte area over several years and earned the reputation of being the “best floor waxer” in the city. While maintaining a successful business, he also was employed with The Charlotte Observer, retiring in 2010. He continued to own and operate RVA Cleaning Services until his health began to decline. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 47 years, Donna Kirkpatrick Alexander; four children whom he loved dearly, Montina Phillips (Jason), DeRon Alexander, Aaron Alexander and LaKenya Lewis (Greg); five cherished grandchildren, Justin Phillips, Joshua Phillips, Gavin Alexander, Aria Alexander and Teigan Alexander; one great-grandchild, Ulani Phillips; one brother, Albert Alexander Jr; three sisters, Barbara Springs, Rebecca Alexander and Wanda Alexander; one sister-in-law, Stephanie McCoy; one brother-in-law, Keith Kirkpatrick; one sister/cousin, Jacqueline McCullough (Calvin); special friends of the family, Kiyanda Peterson and Nneka Williams; one grand dog, Marley; nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Alexander, Frank Alexander and David Alexander; sisters, Catherine Brown, Emma Alexander and Carolyn Alexander.
