Marie Sovella Little

We give God all the praise and honor for creating a living vessel that served God faithfully to the fullest until he whispered, Well Done thy good and faithful servant, as she slept on April 3, 2024. Sovella was born in, Union County to the late Roy Lee Little Sr and Dewie Lee Funderburke Little on October 23, 1940, who proceeded her in death. She was the was the last surviving sibling. Sovella attended Clear Creek Elementary School (J.H. Gunn Elementary) and received her diploma from Second Ward High School. Sovella worked at Berlin’s Pawn Shop and had an outstanding career at Eastern Airlines, which allowed her to travel to many locations. After Eastern Airlines, she worked at Marriott Host International at Charlotte Douglas Airport, where she met numerous people, including Stephanie Moore Hand. Sovella retired and returned to work at Kerr Drugs (now CVS) in the pharmacy where she met two besties, Brent Clevenger and Diana Payne. Sovella attended Rock Hill AME Zion at an early age, and later in life, she joined St. Marks United Methodist Church. Sovella loved her church families and any given Sunday; you knew where she was sitting, as she clapped furiously when “Maestro” (Fernando Little), played her favorite song! You could count on her to holler and direct the choir from her seat! Sovella served at St. Marks in previous ministries, as an Usher, Co-Circle Leader, and an active member of Circle #5. Sovella attended St. Marks until up until her health declined. Sovella loved family gatherings like reunions and Nascar race parties and could be counted on to bring Sweet Tea to every event. Affectionately called “Sue, Bella Bella, Bell, Veela” and Marie Babe, Sovella never met a stranger, she extended love to all and every time she went out, she acknowledged you with “Be Still Let Me Get Your Picture”. She was the epitome of “ Carpe Diem” (seize every moment)! Her favorite hobby was shopping at the Thrift Store (she would say “child this was only .25 cents”) and she created fabulous outfits from what she called “My Pickens”! Her favorite sayings, were “I Feel Good, I’m doing the James Brown”, “You Want My Number, “I’m Trusting”, “I Don’t Know Why”, “Won’t He Do it”, “Errbody Just Ain’t Able”, “911 What’s Your Emergency” (if you called before noon), “May I have the Breaking News”, “Call the Fire Department” (the Choir is on fire), “Unnecessary Roughness, “Let me Have One, Get me One, Bring me One”, “Imma Leave the Light on for You”, “Thank You for Coming” and the one said most, “There Comes a Time” and “Love Love” when you left! Sovella was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Joe, her parents, Roy and Dewie F. Little, brothers, Roy Lee, Charles “Mack”, Jerome, sister Vera, Special Friend – Tad Bogle, nephews, Delwin and Spencer Price, and sister-in-law Aretha Little. She leaves to cherish fond memories her son, Sr. Master Sargent Joel L. Little (Raquel), grand-sons, Josh, Jordan and Angelo Little, sister -in-laws, Annie Lee Little (Roy Lee), Josephine Little (Charles Mack) and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. Her circle from the Front Porch - Ted “Chief” and Nelle Little, Roland “Lil Man” Little, Glen “Fireball” Kiser, Harriet, and JB. Therefore, it’s with great resolve that we are saddened by Bella, Bella’s change of address; she was truly one in a Million. We are Happy Glad that God allowed us to have her for 83 years of life that will never die. Her life is now a beacon of light that will continue to inspire! Luv Luv!
