Latrica Charmaine Kelly

Latrica Charmaine Kelly, age 46, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on September 7, 2017 at Presbyterian Hospital Main. Charmaine was born September 27, 1970 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Albert G. Kelly and Ronie Medley Kelly. Charmaine graduated from Garinger High School in 1988, and from there she attended DeVry University in Atlanta, Georgia. After college Ms. Kelly landed a job with the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System where she worked for many years and made many friends. She then began working as a transit driver for Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS). There she remained for many years. Ms. Kelly decided to spread her wings and relocated to the Atlanta area. There she began a career in law enforcement where she worked for the Fulton County Jail. Charmaine felt the need to be closer to family which prompted her return back to the Queen City. When she returned to Charlotte she worked at the University at North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) where she drove for the transit system. Charmaine enjoyed traveling and being around her family and friends. She liked to listen to music, dance, and laugh. She was truly the life of the party and she will be missed dearly. A die-hard Cowboy fan is one way to describe her, so if you really knew “Maine” you knew how she rocked her “Dallas Cowboys” gear. She never met a stranger and she was very outgoing. Charmaine always made time for her family and her friends. During her moment of transition they all flooded the hospital waiting room from sun up to sun down never leaving her side. Charmaine was very fond of church and yes she knew the Lord well. She made sure that she shared inspirational quotes with friends and family every morning. She was saved and a child of God. Charmaine never had children of her own, but she spoiled her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Making sure she shared all of her hugs, kisses, and love. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert G. Kelly, her brothers, Johnny Kelly, and Joe Nathan Medley. Charmaine leaves behind to cherish her memories; her beloved mother, Ronie A. Kelly, one brother, Roy A. Medley Sr., two sisters Patrina K. Collins and Sharon K. Henderson, and one brother-in-law, Derrick Henderson, all of Charlotte, NC. She also leaves to cherish her memory, many adopted brothers and sisters, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
