Kathleen Adele Sampson

Kathleen Adele Sampson was born April 11th, 1947 to Elizabeth Carr Robinson and Howard Francis Robinson at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital Medical Center. Kathleen’s middle name was given to her after her father’s sister, Adele Harvey. Kathleen attended P.S. 55, I.S. 271, and was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, all located in Brooklyn. As a child, some of her favorite hobbies were hopscotch, teaching herself to baton twirl, and spending time with her grandmother, Charlotte Taylor. Throughout her life, Kathleen pursued a variety of interests and lent her talents to many professional vocations. She held positions at the Social Security Administration, the New York City Transit Authority (where she was a proud union leader and codependency drug counselor), and the United States Census Bureau. Her passion for health and wellness led her to pursue education at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, and she became a Certified Health Counselor in 2007. She was also certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners that same year. Kathleen dedicated much of her free time to arts and crafts projects, plant care and gardening, and the study of herbalism. She always preferred pursuing the natural and holistic route when it came to health and beauty, often making her own lotions and cosmetic products. Kathleen also really loved widening her horizons by being an avid reader and watching lots of YouTube videos. A dedicated family historian, Kathleen made sure her children and grandchildren were well versed on their genealogy. You could often find her telling family stories, researching ancestry, or sifting through her collection of hundreds of family photos. It was important to her that we all knew where we came from. Kathleen had a nuanced and multifaceted personality; and whether she was scolding in correction, laughing in joy, or offering comfort to those she cared about, everything she did was rooted in love. She was lovingly called “Mu” by her immediate family. Kathleen transitioned to Glory on March 3rd, 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Howard Robinson, her brother Howard “Chuck” Robinson, and her beloved sister-in-law Cynthia Sampson Reed. She is survived by her children David Sampson (Michelle), Howard Anthony Sampson, and Quillene Adele Clifton (Michael), as well as two granddaughters, Nyla Adele Sampson and Taryn Nahtai Sampson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Cathy Johnson; her nephews, William, Daniel, Victor, Robert, and Jarrett; her nieces Tiffany and Britney, and a host of family and friends.
