John Earl Henderson

John Earl Henderson was born on June 22, 1949 to the late John and Ruth Henderson in Edenton, North Carolina. He departed his life on May 24, 2015. He was educated in the Edenton public school system and was affectionately known as “Earl” by his many family members and friends. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Gale Street Baptist Church, a church he loved dearly. In Edenton, he worked at several jobs, including Seabrooks , and later at United Dye Works. Carol and Earl met in 1989, and Earl later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. They were married on July 28, 1990. Earl was employed by Sears Roebuck for many years as a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, then as a Security Officer for many additional years through several security companies. He had a strong work ethic and a genuine love of people which enabled him to be promoted to supervisory positions in the security officer role. Earl enjoyed being around people, he didn’t care if he knew you or not, once he started talking, a friendship developed immediately. He loved telling jokes and would bring laughter to everyone in his presence. His smile brightened his face. There was never a dull moment when in his company. He loved helping others whenever he could. He enjoyed shooting pool and was quite good at it. Earl faithfully called his family and friends daily and sometimes call them twice a day just to say hello and see how they were doing. These conversations could sometime last an hour, but you didn’t mind because he kept you entertained and was a joy to talk to; he would always let you know you were special to him. That’s the kind of guy he was, always there for you and would listen to whatever you had to say. His conversation was always going to include: a word about his dogs, a question about what was the last good meal you had eaten, and a comment about how good God was to him. He is predeceased by his father John Henderson and his mother Ruth Henderson. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife Carol of the home address, his sister Ruth Carol Morning (Marvin) of Edenton, NC, his bother Lester (Sabrina) of Fort Washington, Maryland, and his brother-in-law Walter Bond of Lincolnton, NC. Six aunts, Lucy Jones (Phillip), Ruth Jones, Naomi Terry (Sonny), French Schewen, Mary Bassett, Dorothy Davis, one uncle Len Henderson. He also leaves four nieces Rhonda Copeland, Danita and Leslie Henderson, Tynishia Gardner, and one nephew DeeAudrey Copeland, five great nieces, two great nephews, one great great nephew and a host of other family members and friends.
