Helen Doretha Grier-Bogle

Helen Doretha Grier Bogle, daughter of the late Jay Lee Grier and Willie Mae Johnson Grier was born on July 21, 1935 in Davidson North Carolina. She departed this life on August 9 , 2015 at her residence. She was educated in Mecklenburg County School System. After graduation from Torrence Lytle High School she attended Carver Business College. On October 25, 1954, she was united in marriage to Tad Ivey Bogle for 59 years. From this union two daughters were born, Linda Gail and Karen Yvette. Helen became a member of Davidson Presbyterian Church at an early age and loved participating in the youth choir and other church activities. In later years she became a member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church where she was also employed. After a few years of employment she became disabled due to the onset of Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 32. She displayed strength and courage throughout her life despite many physical challenges associated with her illness. She never complained but continued to be the best wife, mother, and grandmother that she could be. Helen was always genuinely concerned about the well being of others and was a "cheerful" giver. She was a financial supporter of the St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital and the Salvation Army, as well as numerous other charities until her death. She is preceded in death by her husband Tad Ivey Bogle, three brothers Gordon Grier, Leonard Grier, and Jay Lee Grier Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Linda Bogle Reid (Frank), and Karen Bogle Smith (Larry) both of Charlotte; five grandchildren; Garrett Ivey Smith (Samantha), Griffin Lawrence Smith, Grayson Christopher Smith, Cameron Bradford Reid of Charlotte, and Arielle Ivy Reid of New York, NY; three great-grandchildren; Alonna Faith Smith, Isaiah Elijah Smith, and Zamiyah Arianna Reid of Charlotte; two nieces; Mrs. Alesia Grier Lewis(John) of LaPlata, MD and Ms. Rita Joyce Bogle of Charlotte; two nephews; Mr. Antoine Grier (Shonda) of LaPlata, MD and Mr. Willie Parks Davis Jr. of Charlotte; six great-nephews; Lance Davion Stillman, John Lewis Jr. (Dana), Aaron Lewis (Myisha), Christian Grier, Demetrius Grier, and Bryce Grier all of LaPlata, MD; one great-niece; Joya Lewis all of LaPlata, MD; one aunt; Mrs. Lela Johnson of Davidson, NC; cousins; Janet Farrar(Eric) of Charlotte, Mrs. Johnsie Moody Tucker, Lillian Moody, and Andrea Moody all of Kannapolis, NC; special friends; Mrs. Novella Hood and Mrs. Virginia Rainey Bynum all of Charlotte; and a host of other relatives and friends. Helen was truly a Proverbs 31 woman and leaves a legacy of courage, integrity, generosity, and strength for all who knew her.
