Ethylene J. Moore

Mrs. Ethylene Moore, age 83, was born on August 22, 1942, in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was delivered by a midwife. She was one of six children born to the late David T. Cathey Sr. and Ruth M. Cathey of the Paw Creek community. Ethylene was educated at Plato Price School, where she attended from middle through high school. After high school, she worked briefly in the restaurant industry before discovering her true calling—caring for children. In the early 1970s, she began working at Wilson Heights Kindergarten and Daycare, where she faithfully served for over a decade. Her dedication and passion for nurturing young lives led her to further her education at Central Piedmont Community College, where she obtained her in-home daycare license and certification. Ethylene opened her home and her heart to children, providing loving care for more than 20 years. Her compassion extended beyond her daycare, as she also served as an emergency foster care parent, offering stability and love to children in need. She was not only an exceptional mother but a guiding light to countless families whose children were blessed to be nurtured under her care. A woman of quiet strength and deep faith, Ethylene was known for her gentle spirit, generosity, and unwavering kindness. She instilled strong, life-shaping values in her children and was admired by all who knew her. To her family. she was nothing short of extraordinary—a true angel on earth. Ethylene shared 58 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Robert L. Moore, who preceded her in death in September 2020. Their life together was a testament to love, commitment, and devotion. She was also preceded in death by her parents, David T. Cathey Sr. and Ruth M. Cathey; her son, Tony O. Moore; her grandson, Antonio M. Moore; and her siblings, Garett L. Cathey and Pruitt N. Cathey. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted children, Rhonda Cauthen (Kevin) and Carol Fader (Jack); her beloved grandchildren, Whitney E. Davis, Montressa D. Grier, and Dillon J. Fader; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Jamarcus S. Sibley, Jakari L. Sibley, and Jurnee A. Sibley. Ethylene is also survived by her siblings, Barbara E. Jackson, David Cathey Jr., and Cheryl Y. Edwards, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who will deeply miss her presence. Ethylene Moore's life was a beautiful reflection of love, faith, and service. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely. "God has her in His keeping; we have her in our hearts forever."
