Eric Spencer

Mr. Eric Spencer, 58, of Charlotte, North Carolina, departed this earthly life on March 12, 2026, at Pine Crest Health and Rehabilitation in Charlotte North Carolina, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who loved him. Eric was born on December 7, 1967, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Geraldine Holmes and was lovingly raised by his stepfather, the late Harry Holmes. He was the second of four children and remained a New Yorker at heart throughout his life. A devoted fan of the New York Giants, Eric was rarely seen without one of his signature Yankees fitted caps. His humor, his gift for storytelling, and his genuine love for others made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Tiarra Spencer of Washington, DC, who was truly the light of his life. Eric carried immense pride in being her father. He often spoke of her with joy and gratitude, considering fatherhood one of his greatest accomplishments. Eric also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Lamar Spencer, Jace Artis, Kaiden Artis, and Niarra Linton, all of Washington, DC each of whom brought him great joy and pride. He is survived by his sisters, Sonia Spencer also known to him as Momma Sis of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Stacey Spencer of Lancaster, South Carolina. He leaves to cherish his memory his nephews Lamont Robinson Jr., Tirell Robinson, and Mario Young, all of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Devante’ Spencer (Jessica) of Atlanta, GA; as well as his nieces Sharae Williams of Lancaster, South Carolina, Brittany Lynch of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Taylor Stinson of Charlotte, North Carolina, great nieces Nilah Robinson, Amelia McCrimmon and Oakleigh Spencer and honorary niece Monique Dukes all of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is also remembered by a host of cousins, extended family, and dear friends. In addition, Eric shared a special and enduring bond with four women he considered sisters in every sense of the word: Lorraine Coleman-Williams of, Accokeek, Maryland; Sonia Simpson-Barlow of Brooklyn, New York; Vanessa Dukes of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Veda Howard of Atlanta, Georgia. Their connection was deep, loyal, and lifelong. Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Geraldine Holmes; his stepfather, Harry Holmes; his grandmother, Josephine Timmons and his sister, Patricia Spencer. Though Eric’s life was not without its challenges, he faced them with strength and a heart that remained kind and loving. To him, family extended far beyond blood he loved deeply, remembered everything, and held tightly to those who mattered most. His presence, his stories, and his laughter will be missed beyond measure. Though he has departed this world, we find comfort in knowing that Eric is now at peace, resting in God’s loving care.
