Elma Nanette Allen-Witherspoon

Elma Witherspoon, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend, was born on November 29, 1947, and entered eternal rest on April 3, 2026, at the age of 78. Elma was lovingly cared for by her devoted son, Jerry Gaddy, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He considered it a true blessing and honor to care for his mother, cherishing every moment they shared. With love and grace, he was by her side, witnessing her peaceful transition and holding close the memory of her final breath—a moment he will forever treasure. Elma was born in Lilesville, North Carolina, where she was raised and rooted in the strong values, grace, resilience, and compassion that would guide her throughout her life. She carried these qualities with her wherever she went, touching the lives of many with her kindness, strength, and unwavering love. Elma was preceded in death by her loving parents, Annabelle Allan and Hayward Allan. In her earlier years, Elma was a dedicated and talented hairdresser and proudly served as a Hair Care Inspector for the North Carolina State Board. She later continued her life of service as a devoted healthcare provider until her retirement. Elma had a heart for caring for others, and her work reflected her compassion, patience, and commitment to helping people. A woman of deep faith, Elma was a devoted member of Parkwood Church, where she faithfully worshiped and found great joy in her spiritual journey. Her faith meant the world to her and guided her throughout her life. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Star, where she built lasting bonds and continued her service to others. Elma leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories through her children, her son, Jerry Gaddy, and her daughter, Elizabeth Yancey. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Brianna Foster, Jared Gaddy, Xavious Gaddy, and Elijah Gaddy, and a joyful great-grandmother to Dorian Stubblefield, Promise Wilson and Blessyn McVay. Her family was her greatest blessing, and she found immense joy in each generation. Elma will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her strength, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her beautiful spirit and loving memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
