It is profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ann Dunham, also profoundly known as “Dot” or “Doris”, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Dorothy departed this world peacefully at her home on February 21st, 2026, surrounded by the warmth of her loving family at the age of 76. Born on June 23rd, 1949, in the town of Washington, Georgia, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of the late Eunice Fordham. She was predeceased by her dear mother, her brother, Freddie Fordham and sister Kay Evans whose memories she cherished with all her heart. For 56 blessed years, she shared a life with her beloved husband, Cornell Dunham Sr, with whom she built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Dorothy’s legacy lives on through her children, Demetric Trinea Poole, Cornell Dunham Jr, and Zhanta Latorre Dunham (Wife; Tenika Dunham). Her love extended to her five grandchildren: Keerra Fordham-Williams (Wife; Annie Fordham-Williams), Jair Christina Dunham, Seraiah Nicole Dunham, Tre Dunham, and Zayiah Dunham, and her precious great-granddaughter, Shylah Nicole Taylor. She has leaves behind her brother Terry Fordham, and her beloved aunt, Annie Bell Norman, who were significant presences in her life. A phenomenal chef, Dorothy’s culinary talents were renowned both in the restaurant industry and within her family circle. Friends and family would come just to enjoy Dorothy’s cooking. Her kitchen was not just a place for cooking, but a space where love was served with every meal. Not only did she love cooking, she and her husband loved to serve their community. Dorothy loved to do parties and dinners for assisted living using the money out of their own pockets. They even took the time out to visit the homeless and feed them Bojangles. Her love language is cooking, and what made her truly happy was full bellies and lots of praise. Dorothy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished her time spent at the beach, basking in the serenity of the waves, and valued every moment shared with her family. Known for her “side stare” that could stop you in your tracks, Dorothy always remained caring, loving, and unique. Dorothy Ann Dunham’s life was a testament to love, faith, and family. Though she left this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She touched many lives, and her memory will forever be etched in our hearts. As we bid farewell to these extraordinary women, we find solace in the words of Psalms 23, which reflect Dorothy’s faith: “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want… Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
