Curtis Bernard Weathers

Mr. Curtis Bernard Weathers was the first-born son of James and Mary Weathers on September 6, 1955 in Charlotte, NC. Curtis was a good child! Never giving his parents any trouble but was always setting up for his next adventure. Affectionately known to family and friends as “Curt” he embarked on a life that was full of zest. As a youth, he attended East Stonewall AME Zion Church where he served as a dedicated Acolyte. Curt attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and graduated from Olympic High in 1973. After graduation, he matriculated to Fayetteville State University where he graduated with a Business Administration degree in 1977. It was during this time that his entrepreneurial spirit was nurtured. He was fearless in all of his endeavors which led him to launch a successful sales career and consistently received accolades for being the “Top Salesman”. Curt lived life to the fullest and on his own terms! He had a confidence that was unmatched and possessed a swag that turned heads in every space he entered. Known for being the life of the party, his booming voice commanded attention and attracted all people to him. He was always smiling so hard that you could see all his teeth and his big cheeks would often hide his eyes. There was never a dull moment in his presence! Curt truly loved his family and friends and never met a stranger. He was always willing to help people in need and share his knowledge of black history, cars and music. As a father and grandfather, he carried this same zeal. He was a great protector, provider and nurturer always ensuring nothing but the best was available. His love, time, and sacrifices were all dedicated to ensuring Curtina and Ai’yanna had access to pursue their dreams. Curtis was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart that later became his wife, Myrtle Francis, maternal and paternal grandparents and brother Maurice Weathers. He leaves to cherish his fond memories daughter Trevonda Curtina Weathers, granddaughter Ai’yanna Thorpe, parents James and Mary Weathers, brother Arnold (Vickie) Weathers, sister Patrina Norman, sister-in laws Sharon Ivey Weathers, Cynthia (Malcom) Robinson, nieces April (Corey) Wilson, Ashley Weathers, Teresa Surall, nephew Terry (Kamille) Surall, uncles James Earle Fuller and Walter (Maxine) Weathers.
