Cedric Maurice Watts

Cedric Maurice Watts son of Arleen Johnson Watts and the late Shawn Wynn Watts Sr., was; born November 9, 1987, in Charlotte, NC. Cedric was called from labor to reward on December 27, 2023. Cedric was a loving, devoted son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He led a legacy of love, laughter, and life. Cedric had a compassionate soul whose life touched many. As a dedicated caregiver he selflessly enriched the lives of those in need by embodying kindness and empathy. Cedric also shared his passion for learning as a devoted tutor, leaving an indelible mark on the journeys of countless learners. He was the life of any gathering. He brought joy, laughter, and a warm spirit to every room. Cedric was the ultimate photo bomber, injecting joy into countless pictures leaving behind a trail of smiles. Cedric was known as “Google” because he knew “EVERYTHING” making conversations more vibrant. Cedric will be dearly missed but his legacy of compassion, caregiving, mentorship, laughter, and wisdom will continue to inspire us and remain eternally in our memories. Cedric was a 2006 graduate of East Mecklenburg High School. He attended Averett University on a football scholarship. Cedric was employed as a chef at Eden of Plaza. His parents made sure he had a strong foundation in Christ. He was baptized at the age of six and was a member of Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist church. As part of Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, he was involved in the Youth Ministry, Sunday School, Chancel and Cherubs Choir, Cub and Boy Scout and GMSBC Panthers basketball team. We are grateful Cedric “walked” with God throughout his life. Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Arleen Johnson Watts; sisters, Selina Watts; Dana Johnson Ingram (Eugene), nephews, Deionte’ Watts, Toren Cole; uncles, Lee Johnson (Darlene), Tony Johnson, Leon Johnson; aunts Magestic Watts, Selina Jones (Derek), Dorothy Smart (Lorenzo), Arvella Tisdale (Sherman), Martha Johnson, Franchetta Peoples, Rena Johnson. He will be missed by a host of cousins, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Howard and Lula Mae Watts, maternal grandparents, Arthaniel and Hattie Johnson, and brother Shawn Wynn Watts, Jr.
