Beverly Ann Roberts

Beverly A. Roberts was the second oldest of 3 children born to the late Roy C. Roberts and Rosie Belle Robinson on October 7, 1950 in Buffalo, NY. Beverly spent her early years growing up in Buffalo, NY. where she regularly attended Concordia Bethany Lutheran Church on Sundays. Beverly excelled in school graduating from Fosdick-Masten in 1968. She furthered her education by obtaining a degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1973 dual majoring in History/Political Science. While in school she married James M. Mixon Sr. (1969). That same year she gave birth to her only son James M. Mixon Jr. (deceased). Later Beverly relocated to the Washington, DC area in the late 1970s where she continued her work as a Special Assistant Washington Rep with the Girl Scouts of America. She held numerous positions in the 1980s within the Democratic National Committee working closely with various prominent Political Figures planning and supervising State Fund-raisers. She retired after working many years with Bloomberg BNA. Beverly lived her last years of retirement in Concord, NC. (just outside of Charlotte, NC). Beverly set out to travel the world abroad at a very early age. She traveled to several different countries on various continents including London, Japan, Egypt, Senegal, Greece, Brazil, India, Ghana, China, Vietnam and many more. She loved learning and sharing the history of all of these amazing places. She loved walking and going to the gym for exercise. She was an avid Scrabble player belonging to Washington DC's official Scrabble Club. When she moved to North Carolina she quickly found where the nearest scrabble club was as she did when traveling to various other cities. Before she transitioned, she was a member of the FoxFire Bowling League in Kannapolis, NC. She loved sewing and creating different clothing designs. She was a former member of the NAACP, Commision of Asian & Pacific Islanders, Photography Club member, Golden Eagles member and volunteer for teaching the English Language. She truly loved photography, capturing so many memorable family moments. She was that one family member that traveled the country participating in all the family reunions, gatherings, funerals, weddings as well as attending various graduations. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Roy C. Roberts and Rosie B. Robinson, Siblings, Roy C. Roberts III, Roy Roberts Jr, and her son James M. Mixon Jr. She is survived by her Sisters: Rita Towner, Lillie Roberts, Carol Roberts, Karen Campbell, Barbara Robinson and Joanne Merideth Jackson and her Brother: Randy Roberts, Cousins: Jean Leavy, Ben Roberts, Hawwao Wajed, Joyce Diane, Kevin Green Sr., Robert Green, Tracey Truitt, Toni Eberhardt, Terri Eberhardt, Leslie Jones, Jonas Roberts Jr., Adrian and Lauren. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and caring friends.
