Annie Lucile Johnson

Annie “Lucile” Johnson was born on November 17, 1942 in Union, South Carolina to the late Reverend Albert & Gelola Wilson. She entered into her eternal rest on July 31, 2014. She accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Rowell Baptist Church in Union, S.C. Lucile, as she was so fondly referred to by her family, moved to Chicago, IL in 1957. It was here that she became a member of Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church. Chicago is also where she met and married her late husband of 29 years, Emmett Johnson. With this union there were five children. Her daughter, Regina preceded her in death. After working various jobs, Lucille decided to become a homemaker. Lucile enjoyed doing many activities with her family. She could usually be found in her garden if she wasn’t on a fishing trip with her children, nieces, & nephews. She was known as the BBQ Queen of the family because every summer holiday she would be grilling enough food to feed the entire block. She also loved to bake. One of her specialties was German Chocolate Cake. During her free time she enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles with her children. Lucile later moved to Charlotte, N.C to enjoy the southern life that she enjoyed as a child and to be with her daughter. Of course she had her garden, as well as enjoying her grandchildren. She became involved with her Senior Citizen buddies and enjoyed her first cruise. She enjoyed the gatherings at her Senior Living Community and was often the life of the party with her dance moves. Lucile leaves to mourn her four children, Annette Warne, LaToy Johnson, Crystal Reid (Lee) of Charlotte, NC & Eric Wilson of Minnesota. Six step children, Henrietta “Ruthie” Lemmons, Roland Johnson, Corraine “Tina” Fults, Emmagene Haymes of Chicago, IL and Emmett Williams of Racine, Wisconsin; Five sisters, Bessie Goines, Jessie Pellom, Brenda Jordan (Robert), & Margaret Wilson of Chicago, IL, Lola Watkins of Pomona, CA; Her 10 grandchildren, Reginae, Shanette, Laquisha, Jemon, Leah, Lauryn, Caiden, Ashanti, Eric Jr., and La’Bria; Four great-grandchildren & a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, & friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Ruby Harris and step daughter Barbara Jean Sturghill of Chicago, IL.
